Dr. Irene Rosenfeld (1908-1983) was an experimental pathologist at the University of Wyoming for 25 years. She did extensive research on the element selenium and its effects on mammals, birds and humans. She authored over sixty publications and co-authored, with Orville A. Beath, the book "Selenium" in 1964. Irene Rosenfeld was born in Austria in 1908. She came to the United States in 1920 and became a naturalized citizen in 1921.
